How Does The ‘not Doing So Good’ Automotive Industry Affect Mechanics/auto Service Technicians?

Basically the title asks it all. So, I’m kinda interested in the auto industry, even thinking of a future career in there. I would like to know some helpful tips on the condition of this industry and some of the ups and downs as well. I really need some info from maybe guys who are mechanics, technicians. etc.

While a couple of car manufacturers are on the verge of failing, not all of them are. People are still buying cars and will always need them serviced and repaired.
If no new cars were sold, people would need their old cars maintained. If all old cars were taken off the road, they would be replaced by new ones that are getting harder for non-mechanics to repair.
Either way, mechanics will always be in demand. It is a secure career for a person with the proper skills.
