Is there any way i can put music directly onto my ipod without having to have the source file on my computer?

nope. you need a source definitely. unless you put your source into DVD, but it would take ages to read it!

yes i think you can but since you won’t have the source in your itunes you will have to manage your i pod manually and after you put your things in your ipod you can delete it from your computer.
