Well, if you really want to change the world, you need to get experience. You get those experiences by working (volunteering) on behalf of politicians, or by engaging in issue advocacy. Throw your resume around. Get a job doing what you care about (or at least something not diamterically opposed to your beliefs).
Use volunteering to develop good organizational and writing skills. Writing, in particular, is difficult to come by. Learn how politicians talk and interract with issues. Politcal speak may be anathema to you, but it pays to learn how to use it.
When you learn how to relate to people, and how to speak in a language that is persuasive, you will be a valuable commodity to whatever cause you are working with.
Politics is a game sometimes. Money is part of it. Public opinion is part of it. Compromise is part of it. Learning how to use it will get more done for your corner of the world than simply complaining about it (not that you are).
First do some serious introspection to determine whether you are crooked, crazy or both.
If you are clean from any of those aberrations ask yourself whether you’ll be able to cope with political co;;eagues – a stupefyingly high percentage of whom fall under one or more of those categories.

Either become a famous comedian or since you don’t have the big bucks, you would have to sacrifice a lot of your free time volunteering to do boring grunt work for a politician of your choice until you can figure out how to catch peoples attention and gain support for your ideas. I hope you have about 10 years to devote to just getting started. I get my political fix here and bugging my reps from time to time. and there is always the political arguments at family get togethers.
Find out when your town has political meetings by going on their internet site. When you find the dates, make a point of going. Invite your neighbors. Spread the word. People aren’t going and politicians are selling towns out to the highest bidder.
