Sportonic is both. you can just use the automatic option or there is a option to put it into manual so you can shift yourself. Usually manual option you shift up or down, nothing complicated.
manual transmission is just what it says.

Sportronic allows you to shift gears manually without clutching like in a stick shift (manual). You are responsible for shifting up in gear, but when you are slowing down “automatic” kicks in and downshifts for you.
