How Did China Deploy 300 Troops In Somalia?

These 300 troops are anti-pirate personnel protecting Chinese workers there.However,i though China didn’t have a blue water navy? So how did they get there troops over there? By Air force? Also how do the Chinese government maintain the troops?

    You don’t need a “blue water navy” to transport 2 companies of troops. You can hire a small freighter for that.

    You don’t need anything other than run-of-the-mill passenger/cargo aircraft or ships to move troops and equipment around the world.
    I was just reading that Ireland – a country with a population less than 0.3% that of China – recently brought home over 500 troops and 100 armoured vehicles from deployment in Africa using nothing more than small coastal patrol vessels and civilian passenger aircraft. If a tiny country that only spends about U.S.$2 billion-a-year on it’s military can do it, then the Chinese shouldn’t have much difficulty deploying half that number of people.
